Please keep in mind not everyone has to have magic.
The Allowed Races
• Humans
• Elves
• Shape Shifters
• Dragons
• Undine
• Giants
• Humans – Humans are the weakest of all races but are most apt at sorcery. Only half of humans possess magic and it does draw upon the user’s strength, weakening them after intervals of time.
• Elves – Despite what it commonly believed, elves are not immortal creatures. They live between 1000-2000 years; though due to a prolonged lifespan they are the wisest of all. Elves are not subjected to human ailments due to their natural ‘grace.’ However, they can be killed in any other way, through magic or sword. Not all possess magic, though the majority do (even if only a little).
• Shape Shifters – A special breed of human, shape shifters can morph into what has been deemed their ‘spirit animal.’ However the process, though relatively quick, can be quite painful and often exhausts the shifter. It draws upon their energy and resources; some have collapsed in the middle of the street out of malnourishment or dehydration. Often shifters are nomadic, though certain camps have been established in hopes of aiding their kind. They have a normal, human lifespan. They most commonly shift into cats, dogs, or birds.
• Dragons – Hot blooded, these beasts are at times highly misunderstood. Their lifespan rivals an elf, though they are susceptible to disease and often times make it only to 1,500 years. They are large, winged animals with sharp talons and claws. Dragons are strong and can breathe fire, but are slow and impossible to hide unless in human form. Highly intelligent, elves and dragons have close relations due to a shared wisdom and experience. Dragons naturally inhabit the desert because of vast space. However, due to their large size it is hard for them to keep cool. It is a personal preference, for it makes them feel vulnerable, but dragons will take a humanoid form for the sake of keeping cool. Dragons are naturally magical creatures and control the element of fire, even in human form. In dragon form only they possess regeneration. They may not have any other magical type.
• Undine – Merfolk-like in appearance, they live beneath the surface of Laroona Lake guarding…. Their songs are enchanting and lure the weak of heart to the lake’s shoreline before causing a victim’s breathing to cease completely. When their tail is dry they become able to walk on land though lose any magical abilities; if above the surface for too long the undine becomes a human forever and can never return to the water. They live around 100 years.
• Giants - Giants, also referred to as 'The Tall Folk' range in size from between 7-12 feet tall. Their bodies are strong and muscled; rivaling even a dragon's human form. They live near the Iron Mountains where broad, gaping caves provide ample living conditions. Some wander towards the Sol'mor Plains where the area is wide and flat. Since the majority take residence near the mountain they were given the responsibility of protecting the Blackburn Mines; they govern the neutral territory and see to it that peace reigns steady. But that is no more with the invasion of the Cosa Nostra; their pride and honor are wounded.
Magical Types
Pick only one magical type
• Alchemy – Is the ability of turning a purely natural substance into gold. It dehydrates the physique and provokes body aches.
• Soothsayer – Is the gift of foresight; it comes without warning during day or night. Users can suffer bouts of insomnia.
• Regeneration – The power to heal oneself after sustaining an energy. If your finger is severed, it will grow back. Should you receive a nasty gash across the shoulder, it’ll stitch back up naturally. However, lost heads will not grow back. Full arms and legs will not grow back. If impaled through the heart it will not heal. Those with regeneration make good potential for soldiers or ambassadors.
• Sorcery – The ability to use spells and create potions. Can ‘steal’ one’s breath and drain energy.
• Summoner – Being able to summon a supernatural entity to aid one in battle.
*The one rule to magic, that applies to all types, is the exhausting force it takes to use it. It CAN kill from overexertion and it HAS many times. There are physical symptoms such as headaches, nausea, fainting, black outs, insomnia, nightmares, etc.
